Meeting Minutes from older 2006 meetings:

March 23, 2006

March FAR meeting was held at Muirwood Village with eleven members present. The minutes were read and approved.

Membership report:
2006: 109 memberships, 177 members
2005: 135 memberships, 222 members
We are down from last year yet.

Old Business:
Marblehead race has been confirmed. See flyer.
Lighthouse race ready and Tom Etchill will measure the changed course.
It was discussed that Hermes does not want race flyers from other clubs at their races.

Scholarship report:
Applications are being turned in from the schools for the scholarship with the deadline the end of March.

New Business:
Kathy Hammond encouraged support of the Erie Parks Levy. This will be a renewal and no new taxes. The parks rely on the levy money for 45% of their operating, so is most necessary. Max & Erma’s will donate 20 % of food sales to Metro parks from March sales. Remember walking is a great health option.

Deb Bogden will bring the Riverfest race back. It will be July 8th. Watch for the flyer !! Gary Payne will direct the kids race and will be a 1 K this year.

Roger printed new brochure’s for FAR with the new clubhouse information. We will have for distribution at the races.

Meeting adjourned.

Next meeting will be 7:00 PM April 27th at Muirwood with social of barbeque beef sandwiches, and pasta salad. Try to attend and bring any ideas to help the club !!! Bring a beverage of your choice.

February 23, 2006

FAR February meeting was held at Muirwood Village on the 23rd with 22 members present. Pizza from the Cameo enjoyed as the social. Minutes were read with the correction of the Lighthouse race to be April 15. (See flyer insert)

Membership report:
Memberships 94
Members 156
In 2005 had 135 memberships & 222 members. The non renewal list was passed around. Hopefully we will continue to get renewals, as well as new members.

Races:
Volunteers recruited for Lighthouse ½ marathon and 5K will be Kathy Hammond, Jim Moore, Vicki and Scott Schoen, Chuck Willis, and Kelly Schiewe to assist Kurt Loyd and Tom Pfefferle.

It was noted the Marblehead race being co-ordinated by Pam Vogel was listed under Toledo RR for May 13.

Kelley’s Island race June 11 will again be down town !!!

Bellevue Rec run June 24 will again have free chicken, and now free beer !!!

Bay View 5K with Kelly co-ordinating will be helped by the police chief.

Cold Creek in July needs to be confirmed for date.

Scott will co-ordinate Fr. Keith’s 5K for Sat. 7PM July 29.

Thunder in Streets, Norwalk will be Wed. Aug 23. 7PM.

Serving out Seniors 5K will be at Osborn park in August with Don Young, and Bob Reiber to organize.

Sandusky Co Fair in Clyde will be Sept. 16.

Harvest Happening at Osborne is Oct. 15 with Kurt, and Tom directing.

Then there will be the Harvest Haul in Port Clinton, and needs to be confirmed.

Kardiac K directed by Ron Parthemore, and Tom Etchill will be Oct. 1st.

A chart will be listed with the contacts as these are confirmed.

New Business:
It was noted we are down in memberships.

We are getting newsletters from other running clubs, and also sending ours to them.

Don Young reported from Florida it’s been in 80’s and he joined the Florida Fossils club - studies sharks teeth etc. !!

Kurt Loyd hopes to have a form with a formal contract for races, and would like one person as a contact and check flyers if want to put on a race.

Meeting was adjourned.

Next meeting will be at Muirwood March 23rd with sub sandwiches as social at 7PM. Please bring a beverage of your choice. Feel free to bring a guest if interested in the club !!

 

January 26, 2006

The January 26th FAR meeting was held at Muirwood with 14 members present. Minutes of Dec. meeting were read and approved. Thanks were given to Jo Moore on the photos of the X-Mas party and entered in the newsletter.

Old business:
Thanks to the sponsors that continued for the new year. FAR is very grateful to have such support.

Kelly reported that the scholarship committee met, and talked with the guidance counselors, and will go through the applications for the scholarship money to be awarded from FAR. It was discussed how Cleveland West has a scholarship also. The proceeds from the Harvest Happenings will go to the scholarship fund. Thanks was also given to Ray Bouman who has generously contributed again for 2006 to the fund.

Races:
A new race in Bay View is being planned on June 25th and will be coordinated by Kelly Schiewe. The Bellevue race with Vick Schoen will be June 24th. The Huron Lighthouse in April 24th will be conducted by Tom Pfefferle, and Kurt Loyd. Kelley’s 5K by Ray Bouman will be June 11th

New Business:
It was noted Don & Flo Young have been walking 6 miles of Bonita beach each day!!
